The scene is still vivid to me: a breezy evening outside the San Francisco Ferry Building, one bottle of wine on the table and a small pile of blue paper strips. Bart, Jeff, and I wrote down the words that would become our guardrails: justice, transparency, integrity, and compassion, and promised that leadership at Mobile Pathways would always start with values.
Those values became our operating system. They guide who we invite to the table, how we serve immigrants and advocates, and why we pair the right people (values) with the right skills (experience) to build a durable movement.
With that in mind, I’m thrilled to introduce four new directors whose lived experience and professional expertise will strengthen our governance and accelerate our mission.
Inclusion strategist and community catalyst
As an immigrant from Kenya who arrived in the U.S. with a single mother, Admas understands the tough and difficult challenges that immigrants, like many other communities, face with limited resources and opportunities. An early funder of Mobile Pathways during her time at GitHub, she now helps to embed equity, impact and community voice into innovation. Her message is consistent and urgent: inclusion must be designed in from the start.
Dreamer, technologist; community builder
A DACA recipient who recently transitioned to H‑1B status, Luis brings firsthand experience navigating uncertainty and a clear vision for tech that empowers immigrants. At Twilio’s social impact team and as founding member of Dreamers in Tech, he champions practical allyship and accessible information. He believes mobile technology and AI can give people the knowledge and power to move forward.
Immigration tech builder; community connector
Founder of LaborLess, Roman has spent years reducing friction in immigration compliance and uniting lawyers, mobility teams, and technologists around better tools. He sees Mobile Pathways as infrastructure for immigration justice, getting accurate, real time data to advocates so they can change outcomes. Roman brings on the ground feedback from conferences, firms, and nonprofits directly into product conversations.
Refugee and migration attorney; protection advocate
Shaped by a family history of global migration, Zaid has led front line legal efforts from Istanbul to the U.S., co-founding and leading the non-profit Refugee Solidarity Network and now practicing at Gray Whale Law. His throughline is clear: make protection more accessible, predictable, and humane. He’s joining to ensure the law meets people where they are, on the devices they already use.
These leaders reflect the values we wrote down at the start and the expertise our mission demands now. Please join me in welcoming Admas, Luis, Roman, and Zaid to the Mobile Pathways Board of Directors.
