MyCamino: A Fond Farewell

Jeffrey O'Brien

When we launched Mobile Pathways, MyCamino was our first offering to the world.

In 2019, immigration nonprofits were doing heroic work with limited tools — intake on paper, manual updates, fragmented court information. We believed something better was possible. Then the pandemic hit, and MyCamino became something we hadn't fully anticipated: a lifeline. Through an extraordinary vaccine equity coalition, it helped millions of immigrants access reliable, trusted guidance when they needed it most.

In that moment, texting wasn't just a feature.

It was a lifeline. And MyCamino rose to meet it.

What We Built Together

The numbers tell part of the story:

  • 1,004,808 text messages sent to keep families informed
  • 732 partner users across 73 organizations collaborating nationwide
  • 900,879 case updates sent, keeping immigration organizations informed of critical court details in real time

312,659+ immigrants reached, each one navigating a system that can feel impossible to understand alone

Those aren't just metrics. They represent families who showed up to court because they got the right reminder. Clients who understood their next step. Advocates with better information at their fingertips.

MyCamino served its moment well.

Why We're Moving On

The landscape has changed, and so have our capabilities.

We made a strategic decision: rather than maintaining legacy infrastructure, we are fully investing in Pathfinder,  our flagship data and AI platform built for the immigration landscape we're in now.

Pathfinder pulls large volumes of immigration court data directly from government sources and, in partnership with Twilio, delivers automated, AI-powered alerts to immigrants and their advocates at exactly the right moment;

when a hearing is scheduled, a case status changes, or a critical deadline appears. What once required hours of manual staff time now happens in seconds, at a far greater scale.

As an immigration attorney, I know how precious that time is.

Gratitude and Forward Motion

Closing a product is never easy, especially one that helped define our early years. But growth requires clarity, and clarity sometimes means letting go of what worked yesterday to build what's needed tomorrow.

To our 73 partner organizations, 732 users, coalition members, and the Twilio team, thank you. You helped prove that technology, grounded in justice and compassion, can make systems more navigable for those who need it most.

MyCamino was our beginning.

Pathfinder is our future.
